The ride

From Xinjiang to the Himalaya.

On the “roof of the world” from Xinjiang to Tibet. Wild Western Tibet with Guge-Ruins, Manasarovar and Kailash. Spectacular Everest north side with Monastery Rongbuk, and the great mountain world of Himalaya.

Approximately 3,385 km is the subtotal of twelve listed stages involving riding, not the complete journey distance or a confirmed motorcycle-only total. Day 10’s 40 km is an unsplit riding-and-walk allowance. A separate 70 km Kashgar sightseeing allowance has an unspecified movement mode; exit-border mileage is unavailable.

  1. Day 1 — Enter China → Kashgar

    Enter China, ride Irkeshtam – Kashgar, approx. 234KM to Kashgar, approx. 3hr 30min. In the morning we arrive in Irkeshtam port between China and Kyrgyzstan. Leading car and your guide will meet you at Chinese country border. Then escort you to cross approx. 110km no man land and then get to Irkeshtam border. Guide will assist for custom formalities etc. The procedure is complex and might take a lot of time. So you may leave the border in the late afternoon. Ride to Kashgar. 3N in Kashgar

  2. Day 2 — Kashgar · formalities

    Kashgar: we will assist for custom formalities and car check, obtain your temporary drive license and vehicle tag etc.

  3. Day 3 — Kashgar · city visits

    Kashgar: city sightseeing. 70km. Visit Kashgar includes the bazaar where many Uygurs do busines and the old city area of Kashgar, Id Kah Mosque and the Tomb of Abakh Hoja etc.

  4. Day 4 — Kashgar → Mazar

    Kashgar - Yecheng – Mazar. 272km+261km. 1N at simple guesthouse

  5. Day 5 — Mazar → Hongliutan

    Mazar – Hongliutan. 247km. 1N at simple guesthouse

  6. Day 6 — Hongliutan → Domar

    Hongliutan – Domar. 351km. 1N at simple guesthouse

  7. Day 7 — Domar → Shiquanhe

    Domar – Bangong Tso – Shiquanhe. 231km. 1N at 2*Guge Wangchao Hotel

  8. Day 8 — Shiquanhe → Tsada

    Shiquanhe – Tsada: 255km. Trip to Ruins of Guge Kingdom and Tholing Monastery. 1N at simple Hebei Hotel

  9. Day 9 — Tsada → Darchen

    Tsada – Earth Forest - Tirthapuri - Darchen/Kailash: 369km. 1N at simple guesthouse

  10. Day 10 — Kailash walk → Manasarovar

    Darchen/Kailash - Manasarovar Lake: Short trekking at the foot of the Mt. Kailash. Then ride to Manasarovar Lake and take a walk here, 40km. 1N at simple guesthouse

  11. Day 11 — Manasarovar → Saga

    Manasarovar Lake – Paryang – Saga. 270km+250km. 1N at simple Saga Guesthouse

  12. Day 12 — Saga → Old Tingri

    Saga - Paiku Tso Lake – Old Tingri. 280km. 1N at simple Snow Leopard Guesthouse

  13. Day 13 — Old Tingri → Rongbuk

    Old Tingri – Rongbuk Monastery / Everest, 70km, sand road. 1N at simple Rongbuk Guesthouse

  14. Day 14 — Rongbuk → Kyirong

    Rongbuk Monastery – Paiku Tso Lake - Kyirong, 255km. Sand road and Asphalt road. 1N at 2*Kyirong Hotel

  15. Day 15 — Exit to Nepal

    Kyirong exit into Nepal. Service ended.

Day 1 lists the Irkeshtam border meeting, guide and leading-car escort, with customs procedures that may take much of the day. Day 2 lists customs, vehicle inspection, temporary driving license and vehicle-tag formalities in Kashgar.

This journey is planned for your own motorcycle. Rental availability, prices and current service inclusions require confirmation.
